Guys, I'm an ardent fan of Gopinath the host for Neeya Naana show hosted on Vijay TV. The way he carries the show on his shoulders is absolutely fantastic! His mannerisms, the way he speaks and his style, everything is superb! I love the show very much and make sure I don't miss out any of the episodes. But, I happened to receive a mail from my friends portraying the real face of this "reality" show. I want to share his experiences with u guys.
His experience at the show is given below:
Hi friends,
I would like to share my disgusting experience when I had taken part (so called participation) in Vijay TV NEEYA-NAANA talk show with all of you. I had registered for this program through SMS, I got a call from these guys about a week later and they had asked me to come for a shoot last Saturday (14 Jul 07) ,at AVM studio Vadapalani . I was really excited about my participation in this program, as this is a very popular talk show considered to be pretty nice.
I had great expectations about the arena where the show is being filmed, but to my shock the floor where the show was filmed was like a cave, no A/Cs and not even fans, I was literally sweating for the entire 3 and half hours of the shoot. when we had asked to switch on the fans they say that"the fans will cause unnecessary noise in the recording so we will not turn it on ...."
Even after spending 3.5 hrs like this, most of the people who were invited to participate in the show were not allowed to express their views. In both the teams (for and against teams) they had people who were hired and paid to speak; the mike was circulated to only these people. There was one other participant like me who had lost his patience and forcedly asked for the mike to the host GOPINATH, his reply was "look here Boss, you don't direct/advice me how to carry out the show, that's what for I m being paid for...please keep quiet and wait till I give the mike to you".
This incident was more nerve wrecking, there was a blind man who had come to take part in this show, he was also trying to seek for a chance to get the mike and express his views, seeing this the production team had approached this blind man and had scolded him and said him not to shout for the mike when the camera is rolling as this would cause unnecessary editing sequences. This was the worst demotivating response I have ever seen, that too towards a visually impaired person who has come with all hopes to speak out. The whole show was a fabricated one , all made up , the final verdict of the debate was decided even before the discussion had started , and the host Gopinath also takes the discussion in such a way giving more priority to the team which they had decided to win. Those people who were paid a sum of Rs.2000/- were evenly distributed among the two teams, and these people drive the discussion, all others are called to just fill up the seats. The sole intention of such programs is to make money and not at all serve for the real social awareness what they claim to do. It's all commercialism behind these shows.
Normally this NEEYA NAANA team visits IT and ITES companies in the city and hunt for people to take part in their so called talk show, I humbly request all of you to not encourage this team even to enter your office premises, and please don't encourage such fabricated talk shows by either taking part in their SMS opinion polls or by nominating to participate in it or even watching it. All this result in total vain, this had wasted almost 6 hours of participants like me. Finally ending up nowhere.
Please pass on this information to at least to your friends to communicate the reality behind such shows, this would really help in saving your friends' time, money and energy.
I was really shocked to read this article, but I guess its the truth. This is how they conduct most of the reality shows. Its just a game of money, a business, in the name of serving people by "opening their eyes" nothing more to them. But guys, this is where we really need to open our eyes. @Raghav: Maybe the mail is an exaggeration, but one thing that is true is, they don't allow you to speak whatever u want... U r not free to express whatever u like there.. He'll take it up according to his wish only... Also in some cases, they give away the lines and the person should speak only what is specified for him to speak...

சில கல்லூரி மாணவ மாணவிகளை அவர்கள் தொடர்ந்து அழைக்கிறார்கள் கூட்டம் சேராததபோது என்று கேள்விப்பட்டேன்..
மற்றபடி விவாதம் மிகவும் நேர்மையாக நடத்தப்பட்டு நியாயமான தீர்ப்பு வழங்கப்பட்டது..

Thanks a lot for your comments buddy... But, there's still contradictions regarding this show... Some say they conduct it well while others contradict it...
I think this is what must have happened ! The guy who sent this mail must have been one of the dissapointed participants whose speech was edited out of the show's telecast ! He should have asked all his friends n family to watch him speak - but must have felt let down when his speech was edited out and never telecasted !! :p
But if what he said has been true - then i think only those speakers who speak controversially that makes the viewers drop their jaws and increses the TRP ratings - must have been paid for and brought to the studios ! :)

The email is obviously a fake.. If u have watched the show u will realize that Gopi never decides a "winning team" as stated in the email. He just lets both sides to speak and encourages fair comments from both sides. The show is just one hour and it is understandable that everyone cannot be given a chance. This is a genuine program.

I am the person who had actually composed the above email. All my experiences mentioned in it is 100% true and is no exaggeration.
I had seen one comment stating that i had written this email out of frustration as my scenes were edited. But the reality is that i had sent out this email on 16th of Sept 2007, the very next day after the shooting and this was telecast only 3 weeks later.
So just beware of such faulty shows claiming a wrong image in the society.

I have heard they dont have AC because the sets were of big space. But, nothing as said here.
i was always impressed by gopinaths moderation in the programme. but the one on teachers and students made me reconsider the same.
the show seemed to be completely one sided and the aim being degrading the teachers completely. one general question need not decide their depth in their core subjects. if they were teachers sitting there without selfrespect..... its a sorry state

I think we should not be on sided and support a host because of their charisma or their way of moderating the show. Shows are not always the way it looks like. There is always a bitter truth behind the nice stuff. I can believe this e-mail. It could be true.

The guy who scrapped initially is 100% true in 2006-2007....may be now 2009-2010...it might not be of fake.i am saying this from my own experience.i participated in 2006 ..i also felt like him.BUT...i had AC,good hospitality,good chance to roll over mike and even my talk was also telecasted for few mins and they used to put one of my phrases for add also.So basicaly at the starting time they might have done like that..just for the case of PUBLICITY..At that time of my show the stage was 50% public and 50% their ppl and the public came to know at the end of the show only.Also if one is having really good knowledge and real exposure to practical society they can easily identify the ppl who are fake in that program.i am also regularly watching that show..and the one who exceeds the practical guessing in the speech is fake one...But anyhow this is good show of conveying some good concepts with 50% involvement of public..(lets think if he handed over 100% speech rights to participants.....and he is simply sitting...then the show cant be manageble and sucessful..)
So we cannot say that this rubbish programme......or WE MUST NOT BELIVE WHAT WE SEE is amazing.....if you want to have real feel of the show....Go and sit in the show and then scrap.

dear vijay tv fans .iam one of the viewers of neeya naana programme.gopinaath is taking the show in a channalized way.but in the last show i could see clumpsyness becoz of the interruption of the kids here and there moving around the stage.the directors may take care of these small things and avoid disturbance between the show.it is a talk show not a kids show, dear parents.

From what I know, few of my friends have participated in the show, and they gave very good feedback about the show. They spoke from their heart and it was telecast. No doubt, the email is false.
1)whom ever has wrote this blog i feel sorry for ur bitter experience on a very big tv show 2)And what ever u said i accept that they hire people and they give chances for them to speak not for others,

Who cares what anybody feels or says? TV is there for making money, not for doing social service. If they kept the AC off, it is probably because it was not working! For decades, movies have been made in these studios without any AC EVER! The noise is not the reason. The show's producer is not willing to foot the bill, that's all. Gopinath is a superb host, and carries the show on his able shoulders. IF he has to silence a few lambs, let him do it! On TV, he is great, and that is what he is there for - a true professional!

My friends husband's friend was on that show and he was also telling us that its all setup and really sucks to be on the show. On the other hand I still watch the show for timepass lol but these days they are repeating the same topics over and over again and well im gettin sick and tired of it, so Im just gona find me another show to watch anyways isnt that how television is supposed to work anyway! :P if its hot u watch it , if its not you drop it. Either way this show aint gona last too long cuz well its jst gettin too boring and people will want a break and so will gopinath im sure ratings are dropping already in the beginning it was like a fad now its jst plain bad! :(. All human are limited to their experiences; That means the total knowledge acquired by them are totally based on their own experiences and not the experiences of the total society.In this scenerio, I dont think that no one [including gopinath] has the eligibility to say whether an opinion is right or wrong. But often gopinath is commenting on the participants opinions! Neeya Nanaa is a good talk show, If you see gopinath only as a compere!!!If you see him as a jutice, You can not digest these nonsenses!!!However, His effort for this show is very much appreciable.....

As far as I concern, I really love this show and love Gopinath for conducting the show so fairly. He never insist on anyone's point. He is a absolute middle man carries the points to both side genuinely. This program creates awareness to our society atleast in a little way. I want to tell Vijay TV and Gopinath to take up the topics that are vital for this society nowadays eg.safe driving as I am very much bother about obeying traffic rules, no overtake, no drunk and drive and much more on this.

I too have been seeing this program for the past 3 years. I am impressed actually. But I have to emphasise a few points about the so-called Gopinath's neutral stance. He needs to know, his role is to be a good moderator and that's it. He need not act as jury and deliver 'his judgement' like Arattai Arangam. He must understand that, the beauty of the program is to know the participants' point of view, not Gopinath's.
Many a time, one sees, he is too partial to one side. Of late, he is getting too condescending towards a few speakers. He need not deride & ridicule others' views.
But one cannot but admire his felicity in handling his 'guests'. The producer of the program need to be praised for making such a program, when all other channels dish out cine-based trash. I have no issue with it, as a commercial program rather than a social program. Don't expect this from a private channel.

for all thoses deluded fans of gopinath. next time when u watch the show, watch it closely. u'll find that only few people r given repeated chances and many people won't be given not even a single chance and they r used for filling the stage. i don have any personal hatred towards gopinath. initially i was too a great fan of neeya naana. but after seeing bias in that show i don watch it anymore. u can very well see in that show how he handles low class and high class people. if u happen to see other programmes in vijay tv u can see gopi putting jalra for cine stars. ithukaaga neraiya paeru enna kaevalama thittuveenga sandaiku varuveenga nu theriyum. but this is the fact.
Never believe what u see on TV. Everything is fabricated and authenticated to keep viewers glued to TV. They show you what they want u to see, than the truth itself. Best thing to do, is do ur own research and keep ur mind 'open' to anything (because anything is possible). First the Earth was 'flat' but now its 'round'... And they use to believe Planets use to circle the Earth but now its Sun. Kannal kaanbodhum poi.. Y'all know the rest!
All said and done... its nearly 5 years now.. whether the opinions are preplanned or not, the show has become a major success. Maybe everything is fake but still some of the judgments given should be that way for the audiences/societies own good. It is possible that they pay, hire people and script their lines but in the end its for the good. And its TV everything is hyped in it!
I'm not a big fan of the show. But for my Master's degree I am doing my research on the success of the show. If anyone wants to give their opinions please do so(that is if its OK with the blogger)The topic is Whether the show Neeya Naana is a success or not and why.. based on its content or its impact on the viewers.

Yes its a preplanned show....Gopinath make a study on the topic before the show...he makes a survey before the show...after all the discussions in the show he puts his own points to conclude it...It gives us some message and idea on the topic....What else u expect my dear...There are more than thousands who spoke one the show, but its your friend who just talking against..Just look at the positive side...May be few negative things...just forget it...Nothing is perfect...nothing can't be perfect as well..Take it easy...Post some Good blogs my dear..

I don't like to watch neeya naan in T.V due to very high commercial advertisements. It's getting terrible these days. It's not live make it continous. Don't aim for money as it is a social awareness show.

I believe this show brings out the reality in screen and the voice of the people. I am against that mail and what is said about Mr. Gopinath. I have participated in this program and got really amazed seeing how they carry on the show. Person who wrote that mail must put his feet into Mr. Gopinath's shoes and must see the fact. All will be given a chance to talk, from my personal experience am saying this. Mike will be passed to all. Those who hasten themselves to talk , of course, will have to face the control of the team running the program because here people are not running the technical part of the show. All the views are welcomed in the show. One has to adhere to the topic. If you go out of the topic, show will get deviated. For that purpose only, you will face restriction to talk. Anyone in Mr. Gopinath's situation will do the same. So people, wake up. This program awakens the society and makes the citizens of this country to see their own reflection. So stop blaming and complaining about the program. Instead think about uplifting our society THROUGH THIS PROGRAM.

I hope he does a Neeya Naana talk on having hardware indusry for IT in India, so that India can be as good as they are in the software, and like China and Korea, India can make a brand as well-known like Korea's Samsung. Then inspite of the corruption in India, it will still progress.

I want to share my opinion about this TV show.
I think the fact mentioned about turning off the A/C during the shooting might be true bcoz i have seen gopinath was also wiping out his sweat in few shows while he was conducting the show.
But regarding the second information about a "few" people being paid might be true. Because while conducting a few series of shows that encompasses social-economic, cultural changes issues in our society it is quite obvious that they have to balance some valid statements in the show so that it reaches to the public in the right way.
But in my point of view this doesn't happen always in all shows bcoz there some situations where gopinath tries to ask genuine opinion(i.e something apart from the routine statement said by most of them) which the common person thinks from his inner mind.
And in some shows you can see that
gopinath also stands against those who speak in an underestimated way against the opposite group of peoples.
Also sometimes you might have noticed that the mike is given to those who were sitting ideal for a long time as well to get their views as well, although it might be disappointing to all those who were asking mike from the beginning of the show and didn't get one in that whole show.
So a common advice to those people who are expecting a mike and getting frustrated as they didn't get one is to have some degree of emotional intelligence which many of them in today's fast world are lagging a lot.
The more one is angry the more one has chances to be neglected.I know it is hard to exercise but know that it works well.
Overall i feel that this TV show is really captive and attractive as it gains more votes from public. So if there are activities going on during the shoot that always tries to neglect the views every invited person then this might have been a big problem few years back which might have eventually shut down this show..
There are some grievances to few of them which is like a bitter medicine which has to be taken as part of the game.
And also i appreciate the efforts taken by the neeya naana team in creating a link between various decks of people in the society.
For ex: public-govt employees.agent-public,village-city people,upper middle class-lower middle class people..and so on..
So try to view the positive part of the show(instead of always projecting the negative aspects alone)..

As a common man i seen this show from the starting period to last show i realized lots of fixations there.
Even maybe the topic we know we realized that whats going on this show,gopi whats he speak ,which side he support how this show going...
eg-Show may be a love ,youth passions,feminism or against belief he support that part of side only.. maybe his support is not a matter but he is not giving any chance to opp. sides same importance..so as a viewer i know he is this side he support one area of topic.. this is absolutely wrong i feel.. as a debate his work is lead a show not justifying the show which side viewer should understood...
Apart from this we saw some shows gopi not spoke anything bcoz of hard topic or lack of information he have and guest have more or not ready to spoke such things.. Eg- politics,indepth of rural,religion, who spoke hardly may be he was wrong also first he appose but after he accept for the speaker confident.. these type of show he was not giving any useful conclusion also..
so overall the view of this show depicts something drama and but giving some useful information who open their mind and gets it..
I think gopi now realized this all bcoz his focus is change another dimension from women to men last show certainly he care about men. topic how men lose their space ..
so hereafter we expect any changes their shows...

Every show has a positive n negative side, its upto u to take whichever side u want. Feel sorry for your bitter experience.But try to understand that Nobody can satisfy everybody....
Even i c some writers or people appearing frequently on the show. The reason i feel is that whenever the topic is given common man who has been invited finds hesitation to speak out the actual things becoz of fear of being telecasted & viewed by most
Sometimes when topics like economy.... not most of them know...They just cant belive on common man to give 100%. Hence they also call people excel in those and that's write actually....Coz this tv show is not just for those 50 participants , its for a complete society whose watching.
For topics on untouchability, caste system also u hv negative set of people, in such cases obviously people on negative side wont get more chances.
At the same time there is no much shows nowadays that talks about social awarness. You should appreciate them for a gud initiative and write the grievances to them....
It's not about how they run the show...it's all about what is the end result..I seriously felt some of topics were really good that it created awareness among the public...

Neyaa naana is a commercial TV show so, watch it like any other TV drama
For all gopinath haters-he brings light to the society.Evil castism got destroyed in my place only because of his heart touching speech.Even if you try to say he is wrong then prove yourself as a very good socialist.Atleast make 50 people to follow you and then speak.Could you destroy poverty in india?Could you abolish the so called gauravak kolai in india?people like gopinath can do it.Just support them.

If you take anything with a grain of salt it is not a problem. The world is always mixed with good and bad things. Just don't believe as they appear. Whether it is Neeya Naana or any other reality programs. Whether Neeya Naana is a fake show or not we can get a lot of information and different perspectives.
please donot waste your precious time on researching on the good and bad things about the show or gopinath...the show is trying to bring a social change for our societies good.... which should be respected and supported..
reality shows are scripted well, edited well and presented in a manner to promote one sided view. its done in such sweet manner that you will realize after some time or truth emerges out. but with commonsense you can make out that its staged. Many issue were not fully covered. its propaganda to show that am good, such an such is good, this is good thats good etc.

It's shocking to see some idiots supporting the cheat named Gopinath. Guys like he should be got rid off from TV arena forever. Enough said.
As much as I appreciate this program, I often find Gopinath to be extremely rude to certain people. He will keep interfering in what they say and frankly acts super smart. From what i ve observed If you don't speak according to his wishes; he will instantly blame that speaker sayin they don't know how to speak. Gopinath needs to learn some basic manners first before he decides to act like he's God's gift to mankind. Such a loser!!!
Neeya naana's host Gopinath needs to be replaced with someone who knows people management skills. This uncouth, uncivil man is annoying to say the least. Lot of people have stopped watching the show due to his irritating behaviour.
I HAVE PARTICIPATED ONCE IN NEEYA NAANA. I SWARE THAT ITS ALL MADE UP.THOSE CRITICISMS ARE TRUE. GOPINATH DOESNT LIKE PEOPLE WHO SPEAK WELL BECAUSE THEY WANT ONLY THEIR PEOPLE,( THEIR INVITEES WHO WERE PAID) TO DOMINATE THE SHOW.JUST BEFORE THE SHOW I LITERALLY HAPPENED TO OVER HEAR A LADY PARTICIPANT TALKING TO SOMEONE THAT SHE WAS NOT EVEN AWARE OF THIS PROGRAM AND THAT HER HUSBAND IS A FRIEND OF THE SHOW DIRECTOR . MR ANTONY HAD INVITED THIS LADY. LATER IN THE SHOW THIS LADY SPOKE VERY FEW WORDS AND IN A VERY BORING MANNER. BUT BELIEVE ME THIS LADY WAS SELECTED FOR THE PRIZE. AT THIS SHOW ALMOST EVERY ONE EXPECTED ME TO GET THE PRIZE SINCE I SPOKE WELL( FRIENDS, THIS IS THE VIEW OF THOSE WHO WATCHED THE PROGFRAM AT THAT TIME) BUT WHAT HAPPENED WAS REALLY UNBELIEVABLE.DURING THE SHOW GOPINATH INSULTED ME BY CUTTING ME IN THE MIDDLE OF MY SPEECH WITH AN UNNECESSARY ANGER AND URGENCY. ITS MERE BUSINESS FOR THEMAND THEY DONT FOLLOW ANY ETHICS.
I attended neeya naana and came to know in person that gopinath never speak on his own. the director speaks thru his ear phone from the background and gopinath is only a repeating parrot. this is the reality in the tamil society that we praise fakes. see this man has even published a book and it sells well.never to go after celebrities friends. seek true people who are voiceless.
This man is bloody sarcastic, no doubt about his anchoring skills, his response sometimes is very irritating and he feels only Tamilnadu belongs to India, I have heard him criticising the food and culture of other states while responding to the people of his state ( food habits , language etc). A good anchor will be very careful speaking when people belonging to other states are present. He is regional and linguistic fanatic , I don' t see any Indianism in him , it is more of a Tamilazh. People from many states work in Tamilnadu similarly many from Tamilnadu work in other states. It is requested of him to not see or talk low of other states and languages. A genuine critic or a journalist will avoid or not create such controversies conducting a popular show watched by many .Gopinath change for the better.

It is absolute fact.I recently participated in the show in April 2016. It revolves around their paid speakers and mic will never come to other people. It was one of the great disappointments and I felt really humiliated and hurt. They are badly using other people to fill up the seats. Lot of people are participating with great dreams but most of them would end up with great disappointment. It is purely based on informed decision. It is very tough to answer his question also in the show. It was one of my greatest disappointments in life. They are deceiving the public. It is not public show but hidden experts analysis. They are insulting common participants making them to compete with experts. I do not know who will give justice to all these issues...They are preaching to public but they behave with very common business motive TRP....
My God Gopeeenatthh is really really bad who is a corporate guy working for Aamerican star group vijay tv . all revenue of vijay tv belongs to american star TV group . hence all advertisements of tamilnadu people given to vijay tv belongs to star tv group . hence we lose our revenue to american ceo
gopinath always uses word tamil so many times to woo or make tamilnadu state people believ that he is only tamilian in tamilnadu
