Guys, I'm an ardent fan of Gopinath the host for Neeya Naana show hosted on Vijay TV. The way he carries the show on his shoulders is absolutely fantastic! His mannerisms, the way he speaks and his style, everything is superb! I love the show very much and make sure I don't miss out any of the episodes. But, I happened to receive a mail from my friends portraying the real face of this "reality" show. I want to share his experiences with u guys.
His experience at the show is given below:
Hi friends,
I would like to share my disgusting experience when I had taken part (so called participation) in Vijay TV NEEYA-NAANA talk show with all of you. I had registered for this program through SMS, I got a call from these guys about a week later and they had asked me to come for a shoot last Saturday (14 Jul 07) ,at AVM studio Vadapalani . I was really excited about my participation in this program, as this is a very popular talk show considered to be pretty nice.
I had great expectations about the arena where the show is being filmed, but to my shock the floor where the show was filmed was like a cave, no A/Cs and not even fans, I was literally sweating for the entire 3 and half hours of the shoot. when we had asked to switch on the fans they say that"the fans will cause unnecessary noise in the recording so we will not turn it on ...."
Even after spending 3.5 hrs like this, most of the people who were invited to participate in the show were not allowed to express their views. In both the teams (for and against teams) they had people who were hired and paid to speak; the mike was circulated to only these people. There was one other participant like me who had lost his patience and forcedly asked for the mike to the host GOPINATH, his reply was "look here Boss, you don't direct/advice me how to carry out the show, that's what for I m being paid for...please keep quiet and wait till I give the mike to you".
This incident was more nerve wrecking, there was a blind man who had come to take part in this show, he was also trying to seek for a chance to get the mike and express his views, seeing this the production team had approached this blind man and had scolded him and said him not to shout for the mike when the camera is rolling as this would cause unnecessary editing sequences. This was the worst demotivating response I have ever seen, that too towards a visually impaired person who has come with all hopes to speak out. The whole show was a fabricated one , all made up , the final verdict of the debate was decided even before the discussion had started , and the host Gopinath also takes the discussion in such a way giving more priority to the team which they had decided to win. Those people who were paid a sum of Rs.2000/- were evenly distributed among the two teams, and these people drive the discussion, all others are called to just fill up the seats. The sole intention of such programs is to make money and not at all serve for the real social awareness what they claim to do. It's all commercialism behind these shows.
Normally this NEEYA NAANA team visits IT and ITES companies in the city and hunt for people to take part in their so called talk show, I humbly request all of you to not encourage this team even to enter your office premises, and please don't encourage such fabricated talk shows by either taking part in their SMS opinion polls or by nominating to participate in it or even watching it. All this result in total vain, this had wasted almost 6 hours of participants like me. Finally ending up nowhere.
Please pass on this information to at least to your friends to communicate the reality behind such shows, this would really help in saving your friends' time, money and energy.
I was really shocked to read this article, but I guess its the truth. This is how they conduct most of the reality shows. Its just a game of money, a business, in the name of serving people by "opening their eyes" nothing more to them. But guys, this is where we really need to open our eyes. @Raghav: Maybe the mail is an exaggeration, but one thing that is true is, they don't allow you to speak whatever u want... U r not free to express whatever u like there.. He'll take it up according to his wish only... Also in some cases, they give away the lines and the person should speak only what is specified for him to speak...

நல்ல மரியாதையுடன் நடத்தினார்கள்.இரவு நிகழ்ச்சி முடிந்த போது எல்லோருக்கும் இரவு உணவு,போக்குவரத்து வசதி செய்து கொடுத்தனர்.நிகழ்ச்சியில் இறுதியில் ஒரு பெண் பங்கேற்ப்பாளர் திடீரென மயங்கிவிழுந்த போது கோபி ஓடி வந்து முதலுதவி செய்தது மறக்க முடியாதது..
சில கல்லூரி மாணவ மாணவிகளை அவர்கள் தொடர்ந்து அழைக்கிறார்கள் கூட்டம் சேராததபோது என்று கேள்விப்பட்டேன்..
மற்றபடி விவாதம் மிகவும் நேர்மையாக நடத்தப்பட்டு நியாயமான தீர்ப்பு வழங்கப்பட்டது..

Thanks a lot for your comments buddy... But, there's still contradictions regarding this show... Some say they conduct it well while others contradict it...
I think this is what must have happened ! The guy who sent this mail must have been one of the dissapointed participants whose speech was edited out of the show's telecast ! He should have asked all his friends n family to watch him speak - but must have felt let down when his speech was edited out and never telecasted !! :p
But if what he said has been true - then i think only those speakers who speak controversially that makes the viewers drop their jaws and increses the TRP ratings - must have been paid for and brought to the studios ! :)

The email is obviously a fake.. If u have watched the show u will realize that Gopi never decides a "winning team" as stated in the email. He just lets both sides to speak and encourages fair comments from both sides. The show is just one hour and it is understandable that everyone cannot be given a chance. This is a genuine program.

I am the person who had actually composed the above email. All my experiences mentioned in it is 100% true and is no exaggeration.
I had seen one comment stating that i had written this email out of frustration as my scenes were edited. But the reality is that i had sent out this email on 16th of Sept 2007, the very next day after the shooting and this was telecast only 3 weeks later.
So just beware of such faulty shows claiming a wrong image in the society.

I have heard they dont have AC because the sets were of big space. But, nothing as said here.
i was always impressed by gopinaths moderation in the programme. but the one on teachers and students made me reconsider the same.
the show seemed to be completely one sided and the aim being degrading the teachers completely. one general question need not decide their depth in their core subjects. if they were teachers sitting there without selfrespect..... its a sorry state
thats a crap mail. People, please don't get confused on such trash mails. None other than gopinath can lead the program better.

I think we should not be on sided and support a host because of their charisma or their way of moderating the show. Shows are not always the way it looks like. There is always a bitter truth behind the nice stuff. I can believe this e-mail. It could be true.

The guy who scrapped initially is 100% true in 2006-2007....may be now 2009-2010...it might not be of fake.i am saying this from my own experience.i participated in 2006 ..i also felt like him.BUT...i had AC,good hospitality,good chance to roll over mike and even my talk was also telecasted for few mins and they used to put one of my phrases for add also.So basicaly at the starting time they might have done like that..just for the case of PUBLICITY..At that time of my show the stage was 50% public and 50% their ppl and the public came to know at the end of the show only.Also if one is having really good knowledge and real exposure to practical society they can easily identify the ppl who are fake in that program.i am also regularly watching that show..and the one who exceeds the practical guessing in the speech is fake one...But anyhow this is good show of conveying some good concepts with 50% involvement of public..(lets think if he handed over 100% speech rights to participants.....and he is simply sitting...then the show cant be manageble and sucessful..)
So we cannot say that this rubbish programme......or WE MUST NOT BELIVE WHAT WE SEE is amazing.....if you want to have real feel of the show....Go and sit in the show and then scrap.

dear vijay tv fans .iam one of the viewers of neeya naana programme.gopinaath is taking the show in a channalized way.but in the last show i could see clumpsyness becoz of the interruption of the kids here and there moving around the stage.the directors may take care of these small things and avoid disturbance between the show.it is a talk show not a kids show, dear parents.

From what I know, few of my friends have participated in the show, and they gave very good feedback about the show. They spoke from their heart and it was telecast. No doubt, the email is false.
1)whom ever has wrote this blog i feel sorry for ur bitter experience on a very big tv show 2)And what ever u said i accept that they hire people and they give chances for them to speak not for others,
3) but friends i guess v can compare this tv show present and past today i am writing on 2010 and this blog was posted on 2007
4)my friend u have entered the show when it was a kid but now its not like that this tv show is really grown up a lot.
5)And do u know how, the answer is in ur blog itself. "AS U SAID THAT Mr.GOPINATH IS NOT GIVING CHANCE TO SPEAK AND TO FLOW UR VIEWS OUT." this is the answer how this show got its success.
6)if he would have given a chance to a person who have no experience then i am sure this show wont reach its place
7)Do u know the famous tv show "ARRATAI ARRANGAM" have u ever went for the audition of that show if u would have went u wont write anything rubish on a blog. they seeks people who have really have there real life experience on the topic what they are gonna discuss.

Who cares what anybody feels or says? TV is there for making money, not for doing social service. If they kept the AC off, it is probably because it was not working! For decades, movies have been made in these studios without any AC EVER! The noise is not the reason. The show's producer is not willing to foot the bill, that's all. Gopinath is a superb host, and carries the show on his able shoulders. IF he has to silence a few lambs, let him do it! On TV, he is great, and that is what he is there for - a true professional!

Mr. Gopinath conducting this programme very nice manner, not imaginable in Tamil. Only draw back, he supporting women unnecessarily. Success of this programme only on the basis of topic, every topic is applicable for all kinds of persons. So many people supporting women, idea behind to get attraction, get women's attention and sympathy. But, wrong notion. If u support one sided, people start to hate in due course. My friends husband's friend was on that show and he was also telling us that its all setup and really sucks to be on the show. On the other hand I still watch the show for timepass lol but these days they are repeating the same topics over and over again and well im gettin sick and tired of it, so Im just gona find me another show to watch anyways isnt that how television is supposed to work anyway! :P if its hot u watch it , if its not you drop it. Either way this show aint gona last too long cuz well its jst gettin too boring and people will want a break and so will gopinath im sure ratings are dropping already in the beginning it was like a fad now its jst plain bad! :(. All human are limited to their experiences; That means the total knowledge acquired by them are totally based on their own experiences and not the experiences of the total society.In this scenerio, I dont think that no one [including gopinath] has the eligibility to say whether an opinion is right or wrong. But often gopinath is commenting on the participants opinions! Neeya Nanaa is a good talk show, If you see gopinath only as a compere!!!If you see him as a jutice, You can not digest these nonsenses!!!However, His effort for this show is very much appreciable.....

As far as I concern, I really love this show and love Gopinath for conducting the show so fairly. He never insist on anyone's point. He is a absolute middle man carries the points to both side genuinely. This program creates awareness to our society atleast in a little way. I want to tell Vijay TV and Gopinath to take up the topics that are vital for this society nowadays eg.safe driving as I am very much bother about obeying traffic rules, no overtake, no drunk and drive and much more on this.

I too have been seeing this program for the past 3 years. I am impressed actually. But I have to emphasise a few points about the so-called Gopinath's neutral stance. He needs to know, his role is to be a good moderator and that's it. He need not act as jury and deliver 'his judgement' like Arattai Arangam. He must understand that, the beauty of the program is to know the participants' point of view, not Gopinath's.
Many a time, one sees, he is too partial to one side. Of late, he is getting too condescending towards a few speakers. He need not deride & ridicule others' views.
But one cannot but admire his felicity in handling his 'guests'. The producer of the program need to be praised for making such a program, when all other channels dish out cine-based trash. I have no issue with it, as a commercial program rather than a social program. Don't expect this from a private channel.

for all thoses deluded fans of gopinath. next time when u watch the show, watch it closely. u'll find that only few people r given repeated chances and many people won't be given not even a single chance and they r used for filling the stage. i don have any personal hatred towards gopinath. initially i was too a great fan of neeya naana. but after seeing bias in that show i don watch it anymore. u can very well see in that show how he handles low class and high class people. if u happen to see other programmes in vijay tv u can see gopi putting jalra for cine stars. ithukaaga neraiya paeru enna kaevalama thittuveenga sandaiku varuveenga nu theriyum. but this is the fact.
Never believe what u see on TV. Everything is fabricated and authenticated to keep viewers glued to TV. They show you what they want u to see, than the truth itself. Best thing to do, is do ur own research and keep ur mind 'open' to anything (because anything is possible). First the Earth was 'flat' but now its 'round'... And they use to believe Planets use to circle the Earth but now its Sun. Kannal kaanbodhum poi.. Y'all know the rest!
All said and done... its nearly 5 years now.. whether the opinions are preplanned or not, the show has become a major success. Maybe everything is fake but still some of the judgments given should be that way for the audiences/societies own good. It is possible that they pay, hire people and script their lines but in the end its for the good. And its TV everything is hyped in it!
I'm not a big fan of the show. But for my Master's degree I am doing my research on the success of the show. If anyone wants to give their opinions please do so(that is if its OK with the blogger)The topic is Whether the show Neeya Naana is a success or not and why.. based on its content or its impact on the viewers.

The Neeya Naana program telecasted yesterday(12/02/2012) contained some very objectionable speeches(questions) by host. Viewer discretion should be advised in the beginning of the program. our country is not a developed country to make these speeches. particularly we tamilians are sensitive people. These type of arguments will hurt many. we have many other important issues to discuss such as poverty, inequality etc.. Drinking alcohol is bad for all. (Gender equality is accepted to a limit, Husband cannot bear a child in his stomach. Dont try to change the nature.)
Hope my request is heeded.
